This year’s Tour de Yorkshire saw a record one million fans turn out to see the epic climax of the road cycling race, making it officially the biggest one yet. Not since the 2014 Tour de France Grand Départ has Yorkshire experienced such a figure on a single day of racing with overall figures rising from 2 million to 2.2 million year on year.
Entire communities lined the streets to witness the peloton pass along the 194.5km route from Bradford to Sheffield with each of the day’s eight categorised climbs packed with masses of cheering fans. The journey was also lined with incredible, eye-catching land art as pictures of Yorkshire were beamed to a record 180 countries globally.
The colourful and creative publicity vehicles were back again for it’s second year with our friends at Drive By Media once again taking an Aunt Bessie’s clad Land Rover Discovery on the road. Each day, as part of the parade of specially decorated vehicles, they traveled ahead of the riders to excite the crowds and hand out freebies and keepsakes. We’ve wrapped these vehicles three times previously and this year’s design included an update to the Aunt Bessie’s logo and some extra Yorkshire puddings (because you can never have too many Yorkshire puddings right?) on the wheel arches and rear bumper. Once again this was a fun job for our fitters and brought an added smile to our workshop.
We’re thoroughly looking forward to next year’s Tour de Yorkshire and hopefully a 4th generation of Aunt Bessie’s branded Land Rover. We love projects like this so if you need an eye-catching wrap to advertise your business speak to our team today on 01274 616 004.
